Accessability
Accessibility is used to describe the practice of making websites usable by those who are physically challenged, particularly the blind. Because search engines are essentially blind accessible websites they tend to have better search engine rankings than inaccessible websites. The more optimized the site, the more accessible it will be to search engines.
AdWords
Google AdWords is the largest online advertising service. It offers PPC as well as CPM pricing models.
Analytics
Software which allows you to track how visitors use your website. It may display page views, user paths, and conversion statistics based upon interpreting your log files or through including a JavaScript tracking code on your site. In the SEO industry Google Analytics is a very popular option, as it is feature-rich and free.
Backlinks
Inbound links pointing to a web page. Inbound links are important as they help search engines determine the quality content and sites to be ranked high.
Blog
Originally known as a weblog, a blog is an online diary with entries made on a regular basis. Some blogs are maintained by an anonymous author who uses a nickname or handle instead of his or her real name. A content management system that makes distributing content fast and easy.
Breadcrumb Navigation
A navigation aid used in user interfaces. It gives users a way to keep track of their locations within programs or documents. The term comes from the trail of breadcrumbs left by Hansel and Gretel in the popular fairytale.
Call To Action
A call to action is copy used in advertising to encourage a person to complete an action as defined by the advertiser. Call to action words are "doing words" such as "Click here", "Buy Now", "Enter Now" or "Click to download"

Cost Per Impression ( CPI and CPM )
CPI is an advertising pricing model whereby the advertiser pays for each impression of their ad. This is different from CPC, where only the ads which the user clicks on are paid for.
Click Through Rate ( CTR )
CTR is a way of measuring the success of an online advertising campaign. A CTR is obtained by dividing the number of users who clicked on an ad by the number of impressions.
Cascading Style Sheets ( CSS )
Style sheets are used to provide presentational suggestions for structured documents marked up in XML or HTML.
Color Gradient
Color Gradient SampleSpecifies a range of position-dependent colors, generally as an alternative to specifying a single color. The colors produced by a gradient vary continuously with position, producing smooth color transitions.
EXtensible Markup Language (XML)
XML is a standard way for websites to transport and store data, with a focus on what data is.
FTP
A standard network protocol used to exchange and manipulate files over a TCP/IP-based network, such as the Internet.
Grid Layout
The grid serves as an armature on which a designer can organize text and images in a rational, easy to absorb manner.
Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML)
HTML SampleHTML is a standard way to express a website. HTML documents are read by web browsers and displayed as web pages. The browser does not display the HTML code, but instead uses that code to interpret the content of the page.
Impression
An impression is achieved every time your ad is served to a user.
Javascript
Javascript is a ubiquitous scripting language used in billions of websites to add features and functionality that might not otherwise be available.
Keyword
A keyword refers to a word or phrase that someone is likely to type into a search engine. By researching and planning around keywords, you can effectively raise your relevance within the search.
Landing Page
The page on which a visitor arrives after clicking on a link or advertisement.
Link
A bond from one web page to another, or a bond from the same web page to a different position in the same document. Most major search engines consider a link as a vote of trust.
Organic Search Results
The unpaid or algorithmic listings of a search engine are called the organic search results. Organic search results are organized by relevancy, which is largely determined based on linkage data, page content, usage data, and historical domain and trust related data.
Page Rank™
A link analysis algorithm used by Google that assigns a numerical weighting to each element of a hyperlinked set of documents, such as the World Wide Web, with the purpose of "measuring" its relative importance within the set. It is one of many factors that decides how a website ranks on Google's search engine.
Page View ( PV )
A page view is a request to load a single page of a website. It is a metric often used in SEO analytics to determine the popularity of a particular page.
Pay Per Click ( PPC )
A pricing model used by many online advertisers. Rather than paying for each impression of an advertisment, PPC advertisements would only pay for each time the ad is clicked on. Google Adwords uses PPC pricing.
Pull Quote
A quotation or edited excerpt from an article that is typically placed in a larger typeface on the same page, serving to lead readers into an article and to highlight a key topic.
Search Engine
A search engine is designed to search for information on the World Wide Web. The search results are presented in a list of results and may consist of web pages, images, information and other types of files. Popular examples are Google, Yahoo, and Bing.
Search Engine Optimization ( SEO )
The process of improving the volume or quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via "natural" or un-paid ("organic" or "algorithmic") search results as opposed to search engine marketing (SEM) which deals with paid inclusion.
Sitemap
A list of pages of a web site accessible to crawlers or users.
TCP/IP
The Internet Protocol Suite (commonly known as TCP/IP) is the set of communications protocols used for the Internet and other similar networks.
Web 2.0
The term "Web 2.0" (2004 - present) is commonly associated with web applications that facilitate interactive information sharing, interoperability, user-centered design, and collaboration on the World Wide Web.
World Wide Web Consortium (W3C)
The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is the main international standards organization for the World Wide Web. They maintain the standards for HTML, XML, CSS, and numerous other essential Internet technologies.
